Tonight, I have witnessed yet another quality example of [insert explicit adjective] instruction. What prompted this post is my instructor’s unyielding and unprofessional berating of my peers.
To set the stage, the four groups in the class are presenting their final projects. The first group went OK. Seemingly, the instructor’s A$$ mode was not online. The second group started, and it was clear: A$$ mode was fully functional.
With almost every description shared by the students, the instructor followed up with an inappropriate remark. Instead of supporting the group of three, the instructor’s words forced the level of comfort below sea level. The feedback was destructive and apparently (by the looks of the presenters’ faces) demoralizing. To say I am appalled is an understatement. His treatment of the other two groups is so extreme, I am too floored to share.
For three years, I taught. For nearly 3 decades I have been a student. Frankly, I am shocked that a university (or any educational institution) would employ such an individual. The lack of professionalism, heck, lack of sensitivity, is ridiculous.
Socrates would be insulted; Gardner would flip; my mother, she would pray her rosary five times over; and me, I get to take another class with the worst education has to offer.
