On November 28, 2009, Ransome Cullman, Scott Caper, Will Singles and Christ Dunst headed to Damascus, VA for a two-day hike through Mount Rogers National Recreation Area. The four experienced hikers traveled through the Blue Ridge Highlands and on the Appalachian Trail (AT), but only two would return home.
Around 11AM on Nov. 29, after being unable to reach Christ or Will over the radio, Ransome tried the Alex G. Bell approach. Christ didn’t pick up. (The voicemail from Ransome has been added to the end of the below video. Heads up, the audio quality is poor.)
The following day, one of the group’s friends back home noticed a Google Latitude entry on Christ’s profile and forwarded the information to authorities. Using this location, park rangers were able to pinpoint the last known location of the two missing hikers – Will and Christ. When the rangers arrived they found Christ’s iPhone and a 2-way radio inside Will’s orange ball cap. While the rangers admit the scene to be peculiar they found no signs of foul play.
Two months later, with the two men still missing, authorities returned Christ’s phone to his family. At their request, I have assembled an eerie timeline from the images and videos captured that November weekend.
If you have any information that could lead to the whereabouts of these two gentlemen please share it below or send me an e-mail at TiTy@y2kemo.com.
