I’ve been fishing since I was a wee lad. When my sister moved to town with her husband and daughter I was pumped. Even more so when I learned that my niece loved fishing.
I gotta tell ya. The kid is a natural. She arrives and immediately starts assessing the natural grounds surrounding the fishing hole. When she’s ready, and only when she’s ready, she grabs hold of the rod and assumes her fisherman’s stance.
On our most recent fishing excursion to Pilot Mountain, NC my niece perfected her technique. First, lots of noise. Screaming, laughing, playing with three leaves, searching for frogs, splashing in the water, and to top it all off she used her trademark “rock throwing” technique. It was brilliant. Nary a fish was even close to my lure.
When she was ready, I casted the line and she took over from there. When her bobber dropped, she set the hook, and the rest is herstory (Brain Regan would be happy to hear that no edits were made in the making of this fishing video).
