The first time I went golfing was back in 2002 and I sucked. I opened the first hole with a course record five whiffs. The following day I tried my luck at the driving range. While I did a little better, I managed to hit a ball over the protective 12-story net, into a neighboring used car lot, and off about three cars (unconfirmed).
Perhaps the game doesn’t have enough action. Perhaps it requires too much skill. Perhaps I just suck at it. Whatever the case may be I tend to avoid real golf with drivers and the other named clubs, and play 18 holes with a putter instead.
Unfortunately there aren’t many putt-putt courses in my patch of land so I must turn to Mini-Putt, an online gem I discovered back in 2000. Using a mouse and a bit of high school geometry you simply drop the ball, take aim, and shoot. To “win” you need only score less than 48.
My colleague and I used to play this game for hours. My personal best is 24 though I’ve convinced myself over the years that I’ve gotten a perfect 18 like my former colleague did (you suck by the way dude). So go ahead, take a stab at the game. Just don’t pee on the course.
Play the game and share your best score below. Just be sure to back it up by e-mailing me a screenshot at me@y2kemo.com, Btw, the original game was created by a dude at Harvard with the username pyang, but it was taken down only to be revived in its current location.
