UnTextMe: When Text Attacks

Published on October 12, 2011 by

the Blob movie posterIn college I got to see classic movies like Psycho, Rebel Without a Cause, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and The Blob as they were meant to be seen, on the big screen.

Of the lot that I saw Psycho and Invasion were my top two and The Blob was definitely numero tres. Not just because of the movie and its lone star, Steve McQueen, but for the movie trailer that lured folks into the theater.

How’s that for drama? And what about the pitch…

ANNOUNCER: Starring Steve McQueen and a cast of exciting young people!

WTF is that all about? Anyway…

For their latest unTextMe video, the UNCG Online multimedia team took The Blob’s marketing approach, a group of exciting young people, and combined them all with texts; those  160-character monstrosities laden with misspellings and shorthand we send to our friends, family, and drunken stooges.

Pretty cool huh? To learn more about the guys who made the video watch their behind-the-scenes vignette. If you thought it sucked then you should probably get on with your day.
