The Chicago Bears just launched their official (and free) mobile app. No more switching back and forth between Tweetbot, and ESPN ScoreCenter on game day. No more fumbling through ChicagoBears.com mobile site. Just one app with all a Bears fan could need on Sunday (or Thursday or Monday or Saturday if it’s preseason).
I’m actually quite surprised by how well the app was designed. And really impressed by its features: game center with real-time scoring and player stats, play-by-play updates, drive charts and a fantasy tracker to keep tabs on your fantasy team (from any team). I can only think of two things the app is lacking: Ditka and the Superbowl Shuffle.
So what can it do?
Want breaking news? Real-time stats for every drive? The latest press conferences and video features? In-game blogs and the ability to track your fantasy team? This is the app for you. Take, for example, the most recent 10-3 loss to Kansas City. If you fire up the app you can keep track of Matt Forte’s health, Lovie Smith’s take on signing a quarterback, and whether or not Denver intends to kick to Hester (please kick to Hester, please kick to Hester). And when you’re watching the Bears D stick it to Denver, use your iPhone/Android phone to follow the game’s every down with play-by-play updates, live scoring, and team stats. BTW, if you’re looking for a way to keep track of Tebow’s Tebows this app probably isn’t for you.
What exactly does the app do?

- News: Real-time breaking news, previews of upcoming matchups, and Larry’s in-game blog
- Video: Bears’ press conferences, features and analysis from each game
- Photos: Galleries from each game
- Stats: Real-time play-by-play, stats and scores, head-to-head stats of the matchup, player stats, drive-by-drive stats, box score, and out-of-town scores around the league
- Fantasy: Keep track of your fantasy players regardless of their team
- Standings: Division and conference standings
- Social media: Aggregated twitter of all of Bears official twitter feed, check in to the stadium on game-day, one-click tweet of all media items, one-click facebook posting of all media items
- Schedule: Schedule of upcoming games, and scores/stats of previous games from the season, ticket purchase for games
- Depth chart
- Injury report
