I came across this the other morning while looking at my WordPress statistics. A little digging (i.e. a two second google search) and it turns out “unknown search terms” is privacy related. According to WordPress.com’s support page:
Some search engines don’t reveal search terms for privacy reasons. That’s why we don’t always know which search terms were used by visitors who arrived at your site from a search engine. When we don’t know the search terms, we show them as “Unknown search terms”.
So I guess when you ask for privacy, sometimes you actually get privacy. There’s comfort in that I suppose.
So if you were wondering what unknown search terms were, now you know. Got thoughts? Share ‘em below or send me an e-mail at TiTy@y2kemo.com.
