How-To: Disable Jetpack Open Graph

Jetpack is a powerful WordPress plugin with a Swiss Army Knife set of features. Its latest release added Publicize which provides a means to connect a WordPress site to popular social networks and automatically share new posts with friends and followers via Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Yahoo!, ann Linkedin. Whoa! Awesome. There’s just one problem. Jetpack screws up your Open Graph data.

Some folks, like me, use a plugin like Yoast’s WordPress SEO to manage Open Graph data, while others enter the data manually. With the latest version of Jetpack installed, the og info generated by Jetpack causes posts’ metadata to be incorrectly displayed. And since there is no way to disable Jetpack’s implementation of Open Graph data you’ll have to do it yourself. Lucky for you, I have the solution.

How-To: Watch the movie “Tree of Life”

Tree of Life movie poster Tree of Life is an impressionistic story that centers around three boys in 1950s. One of the boys dies in some freak 1964 Korean War accident. I’m totally guessing.

There’s a couple other kids, one of whom, Jack, grows up to be Sean Penn. Score! Who doesn’t want to be Sean Penn? OK, probably a lot of people. But, Sean Penn is rich in real and coincidentally, in movie life too.

Jack’s dad (Brad Pitt) plays a stern 50s dad who is supposed to be a totalitarian. “Do this, not that. I’m mean because I love you! Tough love!” Meanwhile, mom (played by some actress) is all girly; seeing things through her soul and not her eyes.

Open ‘em up mom. Life is not just about soul. Unless, of course, you’re Ray Charles then you should probably stick with seeing from your soul.

Spinach Manicotti Recipe

I went to a predominantly Italian high school. Well, there were a lot of Italians anyway. Each year we had a huge feast raffle dinner deal where hairy-lipped women from the old country would come to the school to create the best Italian food you could ever eat.

When they talked, all I could hear was “spaGHETti” “meataballa” and of course “ManiCOTti.”

Point is, I like eating Italian food. I like making it even though it’s all basically pasta, sauce, and cheese with a handful of whatever else is in the crisper and/or meat drawer.

Today, I’m raiding the crisper to make spinach manicotti.
